Localingua is excited to be collaborating with the Institute for Applied Linguistics (IAL) in order to develop a program for translating academic articles and research findings that would address two primary concerns. First, Localingua has recognized a lack of translation of academic articles into English (as well as into other languages), which limits amount of knowledge that can be shared among professionals. Second, we have noticed a need for real-world experience for students who are looking to enter the language service industry. By working with the IAL, we hope to meet our goals of creating an opportunity for students to get real translation experience before graduating, and, at the same time, breaking down language barriers in order to share the latest in international research.
We have partnered with the IAL since Localingua was founded over a decade ago, and we are looking forward to taking on this new endeavor together. Our founder and Managing Director Mario Morelos graduated from the Kent State Business Program after working for many years in the language service industry. He actively sought out communication with the IAL as he was starting his own translation agency, knowing that this prestigious group of professors and linguists would be an invaluable asset. Initially, the partnership consisted of Localingua offering internships to Master’s students, which focused mainly on project management. Later, we also began to offer full-time summer internships, as well as sponsoring H1B Visas and OPTs (Optional Practicum Training) according the needs of particular international students.
Since then, Localingua has kept in touch with interns and other students that have moved on to become freelancers, project managers, and even clients. Our extended team of linguists and professionals is rich with IAL alumni. After ten years of partnership, we are thrilled to continue to work together and develop a program that will truly make a difference!
